LA studio great Mike Landau and rising blues virtuoso Kirk Fletcher are two of the most discriminating tone aficionados around. Mike and Kirk were both enthusiastic users of our highly-touted V60LP and V54 pickups, but they both wanted something a little more. Mike had a set of single-coil pickups in a vintage instrument that he was very fond of, so John Suhr listened to these pickups and examined what needed to be done to equal or better these vintage pickups. Suhr Guitars at NAMM 2007
Suhr Guitars (aka JS Technologies, Inc.) made a smash debut at NAMM in 2006. Appearing at NAMM was a signal that we're no longer a tiny "boutique" company catering to a limited audience of tone connoisseurs. It served notice that we want more and more discriminating musicians to experience the very best guitars, amps, and pickups in the world at a reasonable cost. We continued the momentum by introducing more great products at the Winter NAMM held in the Anaheim Convention Center from Jan 18 through Jan 21, 2007. Suhr Guitars at Winter NAMM 2006
Suhr Guitars' debut at NAMM (January 19~22, 2006) was a smashing success and, as overwhelming as all of it was, we all had a great time meeting with our dealers, fans, customers and our awe-inspiring roster of artists.
As far as artists are concerned, John and I agree that we wouldn't trade our roster of artists for that of any other company's in the world - not only because they're the very best players in the world, but because they're all genuinely nice guys who are fun to work with and who really love our instruments. Scott Henderson and Other Suhr Artists Tout the Amazing SSC System
When it comes to tone, Scott Henderson doesn't leave anything to chance nor is he willing to compromise. Scott has a very clear idea in what constitutes great tone for his needs and he goes for that sound he hears in his head gig after gig, session after session.
For Scott, it starts with his Signature Suhr Classic guitar and the Suhr V60LP single-coil pickups. From the very beginning of his relationship with Suhr Guitars, that combination was the tone that inspired Scott. But since the V60LP is a "pure" single-coil design, it had one flaw that afflicted every other single-coil pickup: the dreaded 60 cycle hum.
Playing in various live venues with varying degrees of noise problems generated by fluorescent lights, refrigerators, and other electrical anomalies, Scott had to reluctantly try other noiseless single-coil solutions for his live guitars.
